Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your Source Parts account by requiring a second form of verification in addition to your password.
🔒 Why Enable 2FA?
Even if someone obtains your password, they won't be able to access your account without the second factor. This protects your orders, payment methods, and sensitive business information.
Supported 2FA Methods
📱 Authenticator App (Recommended)
Use an authenticator app for the most secure experience:
- Google Authenticator - Available for iOS and Android
- Microsoft Authenticator - Cross-platform support
- Authy - Multi-device sync capability
- 1Password - Integrated password manager with 2FA
📧 Email Verification
- Receive a 6-digit code via email
- Code valid for 10 minutes
- Good backup option if you lose your device
📱 SMS Verification
- Receive codes via text message
- Requires verified phone number
- Note: Less secure than authenticator apps
Setting Up 2FA
Step 1: Access Security Settings
- Log in to your Source Parts account
- Go to Account Settings → Security
- Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Step 2: Choose Your Method
- Select your preferred 2FA method
- For authenticator apps, scan the QR code with your app
- Enter the 6-digit verification code to confirm
Step 3: Save Backup Codes
⚠️ Important
Save your backup codes in a secure location. These one-time codes allow you to access your account if you lose your 2FA device.
- You'll receive 10 backup codes
- Each code can only be used once
- Store them securely (password manager, safe, etc.)
- Generate new codes if you run low
Using 2FA to Sign In
- Enter your email and password as usual
- When prompted, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
- Optionally, check "Trust this device" to skip 2FA for 30 days on this device
- Click Verify to complete sign-in
Managing 2FA
Changing Your 2FA Method
- Go to Account Settings → Security
- Click Change 2FA Method
- Verify with your current method
- Set up the new method
Disabling 2FA
- Go to Account Settings → Security
- Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication
- Enter a verification code to confirm
- Confirm your decision
Lost Access to 2FA?
Use a Backup Code
- On the 2FA verification screen, click "Use backup code"
- Enter one of your saved backup codes
- Once logged in, set up a new 2FA method
