Protecting your Source Parts account is essential for securing your business information, payment methods, and order history. Follow these best practices to keep your account safe.

Essential Security Features

🔐 Two-Factor Authentication

The most important step you can take to secure your account:

  • Adds a second verification step during login
  • Protects against password theft
  • Available via authenticator app, SMS, or email
  • Learn how to set up 2FA

🔑 Strong Passwords

  • Use unique passwords for each account
  • Minimum 8 characters with mixed case, numbers, and symbols
  • Change passwords every 90 days
  • Never share your password with anyone

📧 Email Security

  • Keep your email account secure
  • Use a unique password for your email
  • Enable 2FA on your email account too
  • Verify any password reset requests you receive

Login Notifications

  • Get alerts for new device logins
  • Notifications for password changes
  • Alerts for suspicious activity

Active Sessions

  • View all devices logged into your account
  • See login times and locations
  • Revoke access to unknown devices
  • Sign out of all sessions remotely

API Key Management

  • View and manage your API keys
  • Set key permissions and restrictions
  • Rotate keys regularly
  • Delete unused keys

Recognizing Threats

🎣 Phishing Attempts

Watch for these warning signs:

  • Emails asking for your password
  • Links to unfamiliar websites
  • Urgent requests to verify your account
  • Poor grammar and spelling
  • Mismatched sender addresses

⚠️ Important

Source Parts will never ask for your password via email or phone. If you receive such a request, it's a scam.

🔍 Suspicious Activity

Report immediately if you notice:

  • Orders you didn't place
  • Changes to your shipping addresses
  • New payment methods you didn't add
  • Login notifications from unknown locations
  • Password reset emails you didn't request

If Your Account Is Compromised

  1. Change your password immediately
  2. Enable or reset two-factor authentication
  3. Review and remove unknown payment methods
  4. Check recent orders for unauthorized activity
  5. Sign out of all sessions
  6. Contact support at security@source.parts

Business Account Security

Team Member Management
